Exercise Into Godliness
“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8
Have you every known someone on an exercise kick? It seems to be all they talk about! They have a daily plan that includes how they eat, and how and when they exercise. When they wake up, they recommit themselves to their daily plan and set their mind on achieving their goals. And as they build strength and improve their fitness, they research new methods and new exercises and new foods to help them improve their results.
We must be like this! Paul tells us that bodily exercise profits us a little, but that Godliness is profitable now and in the life to come!
So just like the friend on the exercise kick, we must exercise ourselves unto Godliness. We must have a daily plan. We must avoid the things that would separate us from our pursuit of Godliness. We must wake up in the morning and recommit ourselves to God’s plan. And we must dig in and study God’s word that we may grow in our knowledge, prayers and faith each day!
Father, in the name of Jesus, help us to exercise ourselves unto Godliness and grow in our knowledge of and relationship with you! In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen!
